They will be highly motivated, knowledgeable, and interested in innovative ideas. As a full-time team member for the firm, this key individual will be responsible for engineering operations as well as coordinating with our surveying and planning teams.

Responsibilities

  • Site investigation and evaluation of existing buildings.
  • Prepare detail design calculations and engineering reports.
  • Manage projects and clients from conceptual design to final completion
  • Preparation of reports and studies.
  • Coordination with other engineering and architectural disciplines
  • Comfortable dealing with clients and communicating with contractors
  • Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Direct drafting for complete and accurate documentation.
  • Prepare engineering calculations for small to mid-scale steel, lumber, and concrete structures, including new buildings as well as the renovation of existing buildings.
  • Prepare calculations for temporary structures such as access scaffolding or shoring.
  • Coordinate with CAD/BIM technologists to prepare structural drawings and shop drawings.
  • Attend site meetings and perform field reviews.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a Professional Engineer licensed in Ontario.
  • 8 to 15 years of structural engineering design experience.
  • Possess strong analytical skills in structural engineering.
  • Must have previous structural steel, reinforced concrete, and wood design experience.
  • Experience with Ontario Building Code Part 4 and Part 9.
  • Software experience including SAP2000, ETAB, STAAD, and RAM.
  • Fast learner with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities.
  • Ability to read construction drawings (multi-disciplines).
  • Experience conducting site visits and writing technical reports.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently with minimum direction.

Senior Civil Engineer, Water Resources

Responsibilities

  • Project lead for subdivision and commercial development projects through consultation of the land development phase of the project.
  • Ensure civil construction work is being executed in accordance with the design intent shown on civil engineering construction drawings and specifications.
  • Support field engineering to ensure the design intent is conveyed to the contractors
  • Ensure project QA/QC procedures are being followed by field engineering and contractors in accordance with construction specifications
  • Provide technical support to field engineering (as required) for engineering requirements, risk assessments, dispute resolution, filed technical queries (TQs), commissioning, etc.
  • Validate assumptions related to site conditions and information derived from interpolation/extrapolation during design phase are encountered in the field

  • Thorough understanding of the design process including the application of civil design software packages
  • Experience in leading teams of various civil infrastructure projects including water supply systems, sewage systems, roadways, stormwater management works, underground and surface site servicing works, and/or waste management facilities
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately

Requirements
  • Proven experience as construction project manager.
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles.
  • A solid understanding of all residential construction trades and construction techniques.
  • Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills.
  • Superior leadership qualities with a demonstrated track record of dealing successfully with internal and external customers.
