Structural Engineer

Our Structural Engineer must have an entrepreneurial spirit, be excited to manage and guide our engineering division for our office in Brockville, Ontario. They will be highly motivated, knowledgeable, and interested in innovative ideas. As a full-time team member for the firm, this key individual will be responsible for engineering operations as well as coordinating with our surveying and planning teams.

Responsibilities

  • Site investigation and evaluation of existing buildings.
  • Prepare detail design calculations and engineering reports.
  • Manage projects and clients from conceptual design to final completion
  • Preparation of reports and studies.
  • Coordination with other engineering and architectural disciplines
  • Comfortable dealing with clients and communicating with contractors
  • Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Direct drafting for complete and accurate documentation.
  • Prepare engineering calculations for small to mid-scale steel, lumber, and concrete structures, including new buildings as well as the renovation of existing buildings.
  • Prepare calculations for temporary structures such as access scaffolding or shoring.
  • Coordinate with CAD/BIM technologists to prepare structural drawings and shop drawings.
  • Attend site meetings and perform field reviews.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a Professional Engineer licensed in Ontario.
  • 8 to 15 years of structural engineering design experience.
  • Possess strong analytical skills in structural engineering.
  • Must have previous structural steel, reinforced concrete, and wood design experience.
  • Experience with Ontario Building Code Part 4 and Part 9.
  • Software experience including SAP2000, ETAB, STAAD, and RAM.
  • Fast learner with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities.
  • Ability to read construction drawings (multi-disciplines).
  • Experience conducting site visits and writing technical reports.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently with minimum direction.

Senior Civil Engineer, Water Resources

Responsibilities

  • Project lead for subdivision and commercial development projects through consultation of the land development phase of the project.
  • Ensure civil construction work is being executed in accordance with the design intent shown on civil engineering construction drawings and specifications.
  • Support field engineering to ensure the design intent is conveyed to the contractors
  • Ensure project QA/QC procedures are being followed by field engineering and contractors in accordance with construction specifications
  • Provide technical support to field engineering (as required) for engineering requirements, risk assessments, dispute resolution, filed technical queries (TQs), commissioning, etc.
  • Validate assumptions related to site conditions and information derived from interpolation/extrapolation during design phase are encountered in the field
  • Have a keen eye for detail and work well in teams as well as independently
  • Provide local project leadership and coordination with wider project delivery teams
  • Oversee civil construction works covering industrial, land development, and general civil projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized engineering university
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a P.Eng. with the Professional Engineers Ontario
  • Thorough understanding of the design process including the application of civil design software packages
  • Experience in leading teams of various civil infrastructure projects including water supply systems, sewage systems, roadways, stormwater management works, underground and surface site servicing works, and/or waste management facilities
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
  • Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivated, quick to deliver 
  • Effective communication skills as the candidate will have to coordinate and communicate with multi-discipline teams and clients as well as the team working under their supervision
  • Proven leadership and business development capabilities in the local geography

Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng)

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and implementation of mechanical systems within various building projects. Your focus will be on the development of efficient, sustainable, and code-compliant HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), electrical, and plumbing systems that meet the performance and safety needs of each unique building environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • HVAC System Design: Develop heating, cooling, and ventilation systems that ensure optimal indoor air quality and energy efficiency.
  • Electrical System Planning: Design power distribution, lighting systems, and energy management solutions in accordance with building codes and sustainability standards.
  • Complete energy modelling for small and medium sized buildings
  • Prepare pemit documentaiton such as energy efficiency design summaries
  • Plumbing and Piping Systems: Plan and lay out water supply, drainage, and fire protection systems with attention to reliability, efficiency, and long-term maintenance.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates using CAD and BIM tools.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and clients to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into overall building design.
  • Problem-Solving & Analysis: Conduct site assessments, perform load calculations, and troubleshoot design challenges during both the planning and construction phases.
  • Code Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs adhere to local and national codes, regulations, and best practices including LEED, ASHRAE, and other industry benchmarks.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical engineering preferred).
  • Licensed as a professional engineer (P.Eng) in the province of Ontario.
  • BCIN license in legal, small buildings, plumbing, building services, on-site sewage systems, fire protection, detection lighting and power considered an asset.
  • Proven experience working in building design and code compliance for the Ontario Building Code
  • Advanced computer skills including spreadsheets, calculations, and drafting.
  • Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.

Responsibilities

Administration
  • Maintain and review Odoo CRM to ensure accurate client and project data
  • Review timesheets for team productivity and utilization
  • Monitor Written Off Time entries and ensure proper allocation

  • Report on team member metrics (e.g., utilization) and discuss with leadership
  • Review unvoiced time and expenses to ensure billing accuracy

Business Development
