The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative office environment, has strong technical knowledge of construction materials and methods, and is skilled in interpreting drawings, specifications, and scopes of work. This position does not involve field supervision but requires close coordination with project managers, designers, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates
  • Develop quantity take-offs and pricing for all trades and disciplines using estimating software and internal databases
  • Prepare bid packages, tender submissions, and proposal documents for clients and stakeholders
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes, ensuring scope alignment and competitive pricing
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, and engineers to refine scopes of work and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Maintain and update historical cost data, unit pricing, and vendor databases for future reference
  • Participate in value engineering exercises and provide alternative solutions to meet budget constraints
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets for design development, construction documents, and change orders
  • Review contract documents and ensure all estimating assumptions are clearly documented and communicated
  • Support the transition from pre-construction to execution by briefing project teams on estimate details and scope inclusions

Minimum Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in residential or commercial sectors
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or equivalent)
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal and external coordination
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field
  • Familiarity with local building codes and market pricing
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with design-build or integrated project delivery (IPD) environments
  • Knowledge of BIM and digital take-off tools
  • Certification in estimating or quantity surveying (e.g., CEC, PQS, CIQS)
  • Experience working with in-house design and engineering teams
